Training is so much more than just swimming.......

Training is so much more than just swimming...

We use Parachutes which are attached to a belt around your middle and pull along in the water behind you, putting drag onto your body.

We use Trixter bikes.  These are exercise bikes but there is a screen in front of us and you follow the route on the screen. It also has other riders on the screen to make you feel like you are racing other people.

We also do cross country running which has been mentioned  in my previous posts.

We have land training in a gym/sports hall. sometimes we go on treadmills, rowers and other machines but at other times we do stretches and excersises for our core muscles.

We also do yoga which is really good for core stability. So as you can see it is much more than just swimming...

More running.....

Just about to go off for another run around Colmere lake....

Can't wait to go and see all the beautiful scenery again.

Colmere is a lovely place to go for a nice jog or a run or even just to go for a  gentle walk.

This time I am aiming for 15 minutes-17 minutes instead of last times time which was 17minutes-19minutes.

someone's review on going to Colmere lake ...

It's not just swimming.....

Just got back from a cross country run.

We ran twice round Colemere Lake, which took roughly 15-17 minutes each lap.....

Colemere Lake
The Titans do this run every week but this was my first time as I don't usually do it as I have school to get to.  The Lake was really pretty and there were loads of flowers in the woods.  I saw Primroses, Whitebells and daffodils all growing wild.  There were also squirrels and birds everywhere.

The ducks swam on the lake and it was all quiet except for our feet on the leaves. I really enjoyed my run and I will do it again next week......

What made me want to start....

I was 9 and I kept hearing about Olympic swimmers being amazing.

This made me want to start swimming just to be like them.

In the town where I lived they were organising a "swim run". I thought this sounded really cool so I signed up... I had to run round the whole town and swim 8 lengths of the pool. (which I thought was pretty tiring at the time) I gave it my best shot and in the end I came second in my age group - not bad for a first time.

At the event my mum saw someone who was a coach at a swimming club and  they suggested that I came along and have a swimming trial. The trial was for six weeks and for the first week it was ok but then every week after that I kept saying that I wanted to get out because everyone was way faster than me. But I carried on because I knew that I could get myself somewhere in life if I carried on with swimming....
So that was where my swimming ambitions all started ....
